The #1 Roth Conversion Mistake That Costs Retirees

Most people missed the first Roth conversion window. History is offering a rare second chance — but not a long one.

With today's tax rates extended, IRA Millionaires have a brief stretch of historically low brackets left. When it closes, the math changes: higher rates, bigger required distributions, and fewer conversion opportunities each year you wait.

Craig Wear, CFP®, has spent 15+ years helping more than 3,000 families with $1M+ in IRAs plan Roth conversions — helping them avoid a projected $10B+ in lifetime taxes. His new book, Roth Conversion Reset, is the step-by-step playbook:

Lock in today's low rates
Avoid RMD surprises at 73
Protect your spouse from survivor taxes
Keep more for your heirs

The book is free — no credit card, no shipping. The full PDF lands in your inbox in minutes.

🎆 Roy Days Is Here — Let's Do It Right

The splash pads and the canyon will do a lot of the parenting this weekend.

Roy throws its biggest party of the year today — and with triple-digit heat on the way, timing is everything.

The morning is the sweet spot. Fuel up at the community breakfast at the Hope Center (6:30–9 a.m.), or burn it off first at the 5K and 2-mile walk from the fire station at 7. Then find a shady curb for the parade down 1900 West at 9 a.m., before the day really heats up.

Midday moves indoors and undercover: the car show (11–3) and the vendor booths, fun zone, and live entertainment at George E. Wahlen Park run 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., so duck between shade, misters, and cold drinks and pace yourself. Then the whole thing pays off after dark with fireworks over Eagle Lake at 10 p.m., once the air finally cools.

It's free to come and enjoy — bring more water than you think you need, and hats for the kids.

💡 Beat the parade crush: park a couple blocks off 1900 West and walk in — the near streets fill fast, and you'll get out quicker tonight after the fireworks, too.

🌤️ Three Ways to Spend Today

👨‍👩‍👧 Family Pick — Ogden Farmers Market (8 a.m.–1 p.m., Historic 25th)
Peaches, kettle corn, and shade on a historic street. Why: the coolest, easiest family hours of the day — go early and beat the heat entirely.

🌄 Outdoor Pick — Snowbasin Blues & Brews Car Show (noon–6, Snowbasin)
Classic cars, live blues, and cold local brews at 6,400 feet. Why: it's the only way to be outside at midday today and actually enjoy it — the canyon runs ~15° cooler.

🌙 Evening Pick — Handmade Moments at the Nature Center (gates 5:30, music 7)
Soul-swing on a blanket under the trees as the evening finally breaks. Why: the loveliest way to end a scorcher — bring a low chair and a picnic. $25 member / $30 non-member.

🧭 Local tip: Snowbasin's lot fills by about 1 p.m. on car-show Saturdays — head up before noon for easy parking and first pick of the shade.

🌟 ONE GOOD THING

While the rest of us chase shade, some neighbors are spending the morning giving back: down in Harrisville, residents are out for a day of America 250 service projects around the city. A hot Saturday, and folks still showed up for each other — that's the Weber County we like to brag about.
