🎆 Fireworks Are Back for Pioneer Day. Here's What You Need to Know.
Fireworks remain prohibited inside designated red restriction zones.
If you're planning to celebrate Pioneer Day with fireworks, there's good news—and one important reminder.
Governor Spencer Cox announced Monday that Utah's temporary statewide fireworks ban has been lifted, returning authority over fireworks restrictions to individual cities. That means fireworks are once again allowed during the normal Pioneer Day discharge window, July 22 through July 25, but only in areas where they're legally permitted.
Some neighborhoods and open-space areas remain under local restrictions because of wildfire risk, so before lighting fireworks, check your city's restriction map to make sure you're in an approved area.
If fireworks are allowed where you live:
🎇 Use only legal fireworks
💧 Keep a hose or bucket of water nearby
👨👩👧 Supervise children at all times
🗑️ Fully extinguish fireworks before disposing of them
🚒 Call 911 immediately if a fire starts
Our firefighters have already had a busy summer. A few extra precautions will help keep everyone safe while enjoying the holiday.
⛔ Planning a Trip to Causey? Expect Trail Closures.
The highlighted section of Wheatgrass Road will remain closed during construction.
If Causey Reservoir is on your weekend plans, you'll want to plan ahead.
Beginning July 20, the U.S. Forest Service has closed Wheatgrass Road and Wheatgrass Trailhead while crews complete a major road improvement project. The closure is expected to remain in place through December 21.
The nearby Skull Crack Road and Trailhead are also closed through September 15.
During construction, the closure areas are completely off limits to vehicles, hikers, and cyclists.

📅 Skull Crack Road & Trailhead: Through September 15
🚫 Access: No vehicles, hikers, or bikes are permitted within the closure area.
If you're heading to Causey this summer, be sure to choose an alternate access point before leaving home.
🚤 Anderson Cove Boat Launch Is Closed. Here's Where You Can Launch Instead.

Planning a day at Pineview Reservoir? There's an important change to know before you hook up the boat.
Due to lower water levels caused by the Ogden City Pipeline Project, motorized boats can no longer launch from the Anderson Cove docks.
If you're bringing a kayak, paddleboard, canoe, or small non-motorized watercraft, you can still launch from Anderson Cove. Motorized boats, however, must now launch from Cemetery Point. Overflow parking for Cemetery Point is also available at Anderson Cove.
The good news is that Anderson Cove Campground, the beach, and other recreation areas remain open, so if you're planning to camp, swim, or spend the day by the water, those activities are unaffected.
