East Bench Trails Closed as Crews Battle Wildfire Near Ogden Nature Center North Trailhead

A fast response from local fire crews stopped a wildfire on Ogden's east bench this weekend β€” but the trail system will stay closed while they finish the job.

The fire broke out early this morning in heavy vegetation near the Ogden Nature Center North Trailhead, according to Utah Fire Info. It was initially estimated at 40 acres but was later mapped at 18 acres. Officials say the fire is human-caused and remains under investigation.

Crews launched an aggressive initial attack focused on protecting nearby structures, then transitioned to a direct attack that stopped the fire's spread to the north and south. The fire impacted power lines, and Rocky Mountain Power rerouted lines in the area to support firefighting efforts β€” no impact to electrical service is expected. No evacuations were ordered.

In the meantime, the trail system is temporarily closed from 1900 N in North Ogden south to 425 N in Ogden. Please respect all posted closures and stay out of the area β€” it protects firefighters and emergency personnel and lets crews work safely and efficiently.

🚫 Do not enter the closed trail area between 1900 N (North Ogden) and 425 N (Ogden)

🚁 No drones near the fire β€” it's illegal and can ground firefighting aircraft
