East Bench Trails Closed as Crews Battle Wildfire Near Ogden Nature Center North Trailhead

π₯Ύ East Bench Trails Reopen Tuesday Morning as Mountain Road Fire Winds Down
[BANNER IMAGE]
Good news, hikers and bikers β your trails are almost back.
The east bench trail system from 1900 N in North Ogden south to 425 N in Ogden will reopen Tuesday morning. The temporary closure stays in place until then while fire crews complete suppression efforts and make sure the area is safe for public access.
The closure came after the Mountain Road Fire broke out early yesterday morning near the Ogden Nature Center North Trailhead. The fire burned 18 acres, and roughly 60 firefighters β including the Logan Hotshots and Weber Basin crews β worked the steep, rocky terrain in extreme heat, with a Type 1 helicopter cooling hot spots. More than 50 firefighters helped protect several homes directly threatened by the fast-moving fire, and no property damage was reported. The cause remains under investigation. FOX 13Standard-Examiner
Until the trails officially reopen:
π§ Respect all closure signs and barricades
π§βπ Stay out of the area β it protects firefighters and lets crews finish safely
πΊοΈ Make alternate recreation plans until the closure is lifted
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews work to keep our community safe.

Crowns, Sashes & Serious Horsemanship: Your Guide to Rodeo Royalty

You've probably seen the sashes and crowns around Ogden Pioneer Days β but you might not know there's a whole system behind rodeo royalty, built on years of training and competition.
Here's your quick rundown, from local to national:
π Miss Rodeo Ogden represents our fair city and focuses on the local community
π Miss Rodeo Utah is our state's official ambassador for rodeo and Western heritage
π Miss Rodeo America is the national title, crowned each year in Las Vegas
In each competition, contestants are judged on horsemanship, public speaking, personality, and their knowledge of the sport β and that's just the start. Many spend the year traveling, making public appearances, and educating people about rodeo and the Western way of life.
So next time you see a crown at OPD, you'll know exactly what it took to earn it. π€
