It opens big — the Rodeo runs opening night, Wednesday at 7 p.m. — and closes Saturday with the Fair Days Parade (4 p.m.) and the always-packed Demolition Derby (7 p.m.).

Two money moves: go Thursday, when admission drops to $2, and buy Demolition Derby tickets ahead — it's the one thing that sells out.

⭐ Go after 6 p.m. With highs near the upper 90s by the weekend, the Fair is an evening event — that's when it cools, the lights come on, and the rodeo and derby take the stadium. Bring cash for the midway and a full water bottle.

That heavy police presence at Lomond View Elementary in Pleasant View today isn't an emergency — it's a scheduled Active Shooter Response training exercise run by the Tri-City Task Force and partner agencies.

Expect marked vehicles, officers, and equipment through the day. There's no threat to the school or public, and no need to call Weber Dispatch about it. For any unrelated emergency, dial 911 as always — and rest easy knowing our first responders train for the worst so they're ready for it.

Three things to route around:

🚧 SR-177 extension — major work starts this month near West Point; expect slowdowns on the West Davis corridor.
🚦 21st & Lincoln (Ogden) — a new signal is going in; give it an extra minute.
✈️ I-215 airport ramps (Salt Lake) — northbound off-ramps are closing, with more starting Aug 9.

First bell: Ogden City starts Friday, Aug 21; Weber starts Monday, Aug 24. Get ahead this week:

✔ Book physicals and haircuts before the rush
